As a result of Hurricane Harvey, our Executive Director Crystal Renaud’s grandmother experienced severe damage to her home in the Houston area after over 3 feet of water entered it and it became inhabitable. Over the last week, much has transpired that resulted in her having to move into Crystal’s parent’s home in Kansas City where Crystal also lives.
However, this affects more than Crystal. Crystal’s mom, Gina, is a large part of our ministry and conference as well – leading our prayer team among other things. Now that all of this has happened, she and Crystal both feel they need to remain available at home in Kansas City.
Another factor that is playing into the decision to cancel at this time is that registrations have been much lower than compared to our last conference in 2015. At this point in 2015, three weeks out, we were double the registrations and had about $7,000 in funding from donations to use to front the cost of the conference. As a result of low registration and minimal donations this year, in order to be the best stewards of our ministry finances, cancelling the conference has now also become the wise decision.
Those who are entitled to a refund of their registration fee will receive one within 5-7 business days as we work to process those refunds as quickly as we can. Should you require a refund for your registration, but would like to convert it to a tax-deductible donation, please let us know.
We would like to attempt to reschedule the conference for Spring 2018, but we cannot begin talking about that until things are better settled with Crystal’s family and our team has the chance to sit down and explore our options. We will certainly keep you posted as plans are made.
We appreciate your prayers, grace, and support as we pray, dream, and explore our options.
